Uniting The Global HIV Response

Maintaining a global spotlight on the HIV epidemic in an era of global pandemics, humanitarian crises and other world events competing for international media attention requires a tailored approach. For more than two decades, M Booth Health has helped the International AIDS Society build and strengthen its reputation, shape the global dialogue on HIV, and build public awareness of advances in HIV prevention, treatment, and care. To date, we have developed and implemented communications strategies for 14 IAS conferences, including the International AIDS Conference, the IAS Conference on HIV Science, the HIV Research for Prevention Conference, and the IAS COVID-19 Conference. Since 2015, we have led increasingly successful press programmes featuring breaking science, news, and announcements. In 2020, we pivoted to a completely virtual format and in 2022 led a virtual-first press programme, increasing media coverage despite waning media attention to HIV.

To position IAS as a respected and influential global leader, our team assesses thousands of abstracts to identify the most compelling scientific and medical news, engaged partner organizations and IAS leadership to recruit key announcements timed with the conference, conducted targeted media outreach, developed key conference messages and crafted speeches for IAS leadership, advised on social media engagement during the conferences, and identified and responded to crises as they arise.
